Else Forst
ELSE (auch Ilse oder Babette) FORST wurde am 30.Mai 1922 in Boppard geboren. Sie war die Tochter von BELLA FORST und Jakob Forst und die Schwester von ERICH JOSEPH FORST.
ELSE FORST war christlich getauft. Sie wurde am 22.Oktober 1940, einem Tag des Jüdischen Laubhüttenfestes, zusammen mit ihrer Mutter verhaftet und nach Gurs deportiert. Aus diesem Lager / KZ Gurs gibt es ein Foto, das sie mit Schürze beim Kochen zeigt. 1942 wurde ELSE FORST weiter deportiert in das KZ Auschwitz-Birkenau und dort in den Gaskammern, 20 Jahre alt, ermordet.
Kinder bis 16 Jahre hatten eine kleine Chance, dem Nazi-Terror zu entkommen. Aus Gurs und den unendlich vielen anderen Lagern in Frankreich konnten durch die Hilfe von sehr mutigen Menschen rund 6.000 Kinder von jüdischen Organisationen, zum Beispiel der OSE und der Schweizer Kinderhilfe, dem Internationalen Roten Kreuz, der CIMADE u.a. vorerst befreit werden. Mit Duldung der Vichy-Regierung versteckten Helfende die Kinder in Kinderheimen, auf alten Schlössern oder Bauernhöfen und brachten sie später über die Grenzen nach Spanien, in die Schweiz, nach England oder in die USA.
ELSE FORST und ihr Bruder waren für diese Rettungsmöglichkeit zu alt.
Else Forst (también conocida como Ilse o Babette) nació el 30 de mayo de 1922 en Boppard. Era hija de Bella y Jakob Forst, y hermana de Erich Joseph Forst.
Else Forst fue bautizada como cristiana. Durante la festividad judía de los Tabernáculos (Sucot), fue detenida junto a su madre el 22 de octubre de 1940 y deportada a Gurs. Existe una foto de Else en este campo de concentración, en la que se le puede ver cocinando con un delantal. En 1942, Else Forst fue deportada al campo de concentración de Auschwitz-Birkenau, y asesinada en las cámaras de gas a los 20 años.
Los niños de hasta 16 años tenían una pequeña posibilidad de escapar del terror nazi. Alrededor de 6.000 niños fueron liberados de Gurs y otros campos concentración en Francia, gracias a organizaciones como la OSE, Ayuda Suiza a la Infancia, la Cruz Roja Internacional, el CIMADE y otras. Con la ayuda del gobierno de Vichy, los ayudantes escondían a niños en hogares infantiles, castillos abandonados o granjas, y luego los ayudaban a cruzar la frontera hacia España, Suiza, Inglaterra o Estados Unidos.

ELSE FORST was baptized as christian. She was arrested with her mother on October 22, 1940, a day of the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles, and deported to Gurs. There is a picture from this camp that shows her in an apron while cooking. In 1942, ELSE FORST was deported further into the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and was murdered there in the gas chambers at the age of 20.
Children up to 16 years old had a little chance of escaping the Nazi-terror. With the help of very courageous people, around 6,000 children from Jewish organizations such as the OSE and Swiss Children’s Aid, the International Red Cross, the CIMADE and others were freed for the time being from Gurs and the countless other camps in France. With the tolerance of the Vichy government, helpers hid the children in children’s homes, in old castles or farms and later took them across the borders to Spain, Switzerland, England or the USA.
ELSE FORST and her brother were too old for this rescue option.
