Johanna Meyer geb. Bernstein

JOHANNA (also Johanne) MEYER was born as Johanna Bernstein on August 20, 1847 in Berlin. She had two children with her husband Richard, professor, philologist, engineer and editor of the Yearbook of Chemistry (1891-1918): LOTTE and Erich (*August 11, 1874). From 1938, JOHANNA MEYER lived with her daughter LOTTE in Freiburg, from 1939 in the „Pension Klute“ at Goethestrasse 71, from 1940 in Goethestrasse 73, first floor. On August 22, 1942, JOHANNA and LOTTE MEYER were picked up from Goethestrasse 5 (according to the deportation list of Theresienstadt concentration camp, but written Göthestrasse) for transport XIII/1 to Theresienstadt concentration camp. There, JOHANNA MEYER succumbed to the shock of the terrible living conditions just one week after her arrival. She lived to the age of 95.
