Simon Fürth
SIMON FÜRTH (also Fuerth) was born on March 9, 1863 in Nonnenweier. Together with his wife PAULA ROSA FÜRTH née HIRSCH, he moved to the city of Freiburg in 1938. Before that they had lived in Au. The address in Freiburg was Rheinstrasse 17 at the time, today it is Rheinstrasse 15.
He and his wife had three children: Edgar, Herbert, Louise and Oscar Fürth. Only Herbert is known to have died in Rheinfelden.
On October 22, 1940, SIMON FÜRTH and his wife were arrested and deported to the Gurs concentration camp, located on the northern edge of the Pyrenees. Barely two weeks after his arrival, SIMON FÜRTH was murdered there on November 10 or 12, 1940, at the age of 77, due to the inhumane conditions in the camp.
